Remembrance Services 2017

Date: November 13, 2017

This is the season for remembering those who have died in war. On Saturday we joined in with the national silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in the middle of our jumble sale.

On Sunday 12th we held a Remembrance Service with scouts, guides, brownies, cubs, beavers and rainbows on parade. We were delighted to see fifty children in our church despite the solemn occasion, and particularly grateful to the young trumpeter who visited us to play the Last Post and Reveille at the beginning and end of our silence.

In the evening, Revd Philippa spoke at our 6:30 Eucharist about the work of nurses during the First World War. We found out much detail about these inspiring women pioneers and how the military nurses of today still manage to bring healing and pastoral care in desperate situations.

On Monday 13th our vicar and curate, Philippa and Sarah, joined Beatrix Potter School as they attended the war graves of the Newfoundland Regiment in Wandsworth Cemetery.

(We hope to have some photos soon.)
