Responding to the Refugee Crisis

Date: September 14, 2015

Many of us have seen the distressing pictures of the refugee crisis affecting all of us across Europe.  This has led many people to offer some help.

The Church Times on Friday 11th September suggested several ways in which people could do this.  These are to:

  1. Offer accommodation;
  2. Offer to foster;
  3. Donate to charities working with refugees;
  4. Protest;
  5. Share articles about what we do;
  6. Pray.

The Church of England has issued a prayer about the crisis:

Heavenly Father, you are the source of all goodness, generosity, and love.  We thank you for opening the hearts of many to those who are fleeing for their lives. Help us now to open our arms in welcome, and reach out our hands in support, that the desperate may find new hope, and lives torn apart be restored. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ your son, our Lord, who fled persecution at his birth, and at his last triumphed over death. Amen
