Ringing the Bells for Grenfell
On Sunday 14th June, we joined with 100+ churches across London in tolling the SMM bell 72 times to remember those who died on that terrible night 3 years ago. Many thanks to John Agar who stepped up to ring the bell so familiar to us all and helped create a fitting memorial for those never to be forgotten victims.
The Bishop of Kingston has written to us: ‘Thank you for joining in the ringing of the bells for Grenfell. I know it meant a lot to people in the wider Grenfell community that they felt the support of the Church across London and from parishes a long way from North Kensington, but wanting to express love and support for the bereaved and survivors. For many of us the ringing of 72 bells brought home the scale of what happened 3 years ago and was a good way to express the longing for resolution and justice. I am grateful to you for arranging this act of compassion and solidarity
