July 22nd St Mary Magdalene Day
The naturally beautiful cross which has become such a focal point for prayer during lockdown, takes centre stage once more for St Mary Magdalene day.
Churchwarden Jane Cooper has created a new look for the celebration with help from members of the congregation who suggested the inspirational prayers that decorate the church railings.
“We decided on prayers from Christian women of all centuries, ranging from Hildegard of Bingham to Harriet Tubman and Dolly Parton. The cross has been decorated with red and green ribbons as St Mary Magdalene is represented in these colours in our own stained glass windows.”
When you pass by on your daily walk, do stop and read them – it makes for a wonderfully mindful pause in a hectic day.
