10am Parish Eucharist
Our main service with hymns, sermon and choir as we share in the Holy Communion together. Followed by refreshments, it’s the perfect opportunity to meet with friends, neighbours and fellow worshippers.
Children are very welcome to stay in church with parents. However at the 10am service there’s fun to be had at Junior Church. See details below.
*Babies & Toddlers If the service gets a ‘bit much’ for tiny church goers, there is a Parent and Child room where you can sit quietly with them and still hear the service.
6.30pm Evening Eucharist
A calm and peaceful service as the weekend draws to a close and a new week begins. On occasion this service becomes a ‘Come and Sing’ Choral Evensong featuring glorious choral music. If you love choral singing and aren’t part of a regular choir or if your church doesn’t sing this service, why not come and join in? Arrive at 3.45pm to rehearse for the 6pm service. Check our Latest News page for dates.

Baptisms, weddings and funerals
St Mary Magdalene Church is here to be alongside you in times of celebration and in times of sorrow. Please do contact us about any of the following.
We are delighted to welcome babies, children and adults at St Mary Magdalene for those first steps on an exciting journey with God.
The guidelines are that you need to live in the parish or be a regular worshipper here. Find out if you live in the parish by using the link here.
Timing: We have regular Sundays set aside when baptisms take place within our 10am service and the whole congregation can welcome the newly baptised. A 12 noon service can occasionally be arranged under particular circumstances.
Preparation: Those being baptised and their families receive preparation before the baptism day and a chance to ‘walk through’ the service.
Godparents: For babies and young children, it is a requirement that Godparents should be baptised themselves. Traditionally girls have two Godmothers and one Godfather. For boys it’s the other way around.
To arrange a baptism, contact Rev Philippa Boardman at the Parish Office 020 8672 0266 (Tues & Thurs 9.30-4.30) or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Fees: There are no fees for baptisms at SMM, but we always welcome a donation towards activities and the upkeep of our beautiful church.
It is a joy to welcome couples to be married at St Mary Magdalene and work with you to make your wedding a truly happy and memorable occasion.
Eligibility: To have a right to marry in the church, you have to live in the parish, be a regular worshipper at the church or have a “qualifying connection” with the church. Parish Map
Before the wedding: you will have to have your banns read or apply for a licence to marry. (see banns information below) To find out more, please contact the Parish Administrator Zorah Baig at the Parish Office 020 8672 0266 (Tues & Thurs 9.30-4.30) email email@example.com or come along to our 10am Service.
Planning the service: The vicar can help you with the details of your service. From readings to hymns and more, together you can create something truly personal. For a more advice, information and inspiration visit The Church of England wedding website
Fees: These will vary depending on your requirements. Check the Parish Fees table here. Church of England Fees Information
If you are marrying in another church and live in St Mary Magdalene Wandsworth Common parish, you may need to have your banns read here. (Please see Marriage Banns information below.)
Whether you are planning to marry at St Mary Magdalene or live in the parish and plan to be married elsewhere it is a legal requirement for your Banns of Marriage to be called over three Sundays within three months of your wedding. At SMM this takes place during the 10am Sunday Eucharist.
For your banns to be read at SMM go through the following steps…
1. Check that you live in the parish Parish Map. If you do, fill in and sign the Marriage Banns Application Form
If it's not clear from the map if you live in the parish please go to https://www.achurchnearyou.com/ where you can type in your postcode and they will tell you the parish you live in.
2.Return the form along with payment to the Parish Office. 10a Wiseton Road, London SW17 7EE (Open Tues & Thursday 9.30-4.30) The fee changes annually so please check the latest Parish Fees Table. Payable to St. Mary Magdalene Wandsworth Common. Church of England Fees Information
3.The Parish Administrator will contact you with dates for the three Sundays on which your banns will be called. We would love to see you in church to hear them read. After the third reading you will be contacted to arrange collection of the certificate which should be given to the clergy member conducting your wedding before the big day.
At SMM we are here to support you through this difficult time.
Eligibility: St Mary Magdalene is available for funerals for anyone who lived within the parish or who had a strong connection with the church.
A church funeral: can offer a very fitting way in which your loved one can be remembered and entrusted into the love and peace of God. This can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.
